BIO

Streetlamps for Spotlights play sharp, edgy rock. Initially created as a way for Jason Davis (Guitar/Vox) to escape the
confines of the recording studio he had constructed. After a number of years of documenting bands on tape as well
recording two records of solo material, a much-needed change was in order. In2004 the original two-person line-up
consisting of guitar and drums released two singles (The Unwanted
Sounds-2004 & The Velvet Touch-2005) and
played around the Midwest when schedules allowed.

With the close of 2005 Jason found himself without a drummer. Having much invested, he decided to continue on with
the
a new rhythm section. The new line-up the rehearsed for three months in the front of 2006 immediately recording
three songs at Off the Cuff Sound
Recording, the all-analog recording studio that Jason still owns. Not one to wait
around, the songs were
sent to Roger Siebel at SAE Mastering in Arizona for vinyl mastering then directly to URP in
Nashville for
a 45 rpm record release on his own imprint, Off the Cuff Records. The first hundred copies have limited
edition silk-screened covers done by Eyeball Graphics in their hometown of Fort Wayne, IN.

Spending 2006 experimenting with a revolving cast of instrumentalist, and a open door policy, Davis described the year
as"the period when a band that has longevity changes due to lifes unexpected circumstances. I see it as the Built to Spill
or Guided by Voices period. "

2007 brought yet another change for Streetlamps. Enter Dave Trevino. Dave, a long time friend but never musical
collabrator, return home after 5 years touring the world with a well known punk outfit. It was a nice change for both
Davis and Trevino. This coupled with the addition of yet another very long time friend but never musical conspirator, Jay
Hackenbush, Streetlamps was once again a cemented unit. When recently asked to describe Streetlamps Davis replied,
"we are simply a band in our 30's who have all been doing this music thing longer than we have not. So we have
learned a few things over the years, like how not to get in each others way musically........And how not to bicker."

2008 looks very promising. A new 45rpm record is sheduled for the spring. As well each member is currently working on solo efforts.

Streetlamps music has been described as picking up whereSebadoh and Pavement left off, continuing to carry the sarcastic torch throughout the Midwest leaving lasting impressions everywhere they set-up and plug in.

"Here it Come" 45rpm vinyl Reviews

This is the Jam and Television squeezed together like two shades of rock ‘n’ roll playdough. The music on this record has that uptempo, bright, trebly, raw feel like all the early Jam material. The vocals and song structure is where the Television comparisons seem to come into play for me. They seem to be more on the avant-garde side you might say. I really dig this forty-five. For one thing, its vinyl and vinyl always sounds more legitimate to my ears. Favorite track: “No Exit” but all three tracks are really good and worth the listen.
